RIP Charles Nelson Reilly

In the '70's, he seemed to be on
TV all the time.
He was lots of fun.

GRCC Alumni Assoc. This evening he was awarded
the scholarship at a dinner in the ATC building
on GRCC's campus. They had a nice little gift bag

The Alumni Assoc. gives out 35 awards each year,
7 of the recipients were on hand this evening.

The Ladies Are On The Way

We left home at about 1:25 PM, est. The wayback
still had lots of room.

J did some reading to pass the time. MJ was able
to catch a few winks, no drooling though.

We stopped at a Giordano's pizza place in Rosemont,
about 5 minutes from O'Hare. J and I had a veg pizza
and MJ had a anti-pasto salad. All was very tasty.

I just dropped the girls off at the curb, I did slow down.
The international terminal at O'Hare is very user
friendly.

My last view of the ladies as they enter the terminal.
MJ called at 9:05, est to say that they were on the plane
and would be taking off very shortly.

I took this as I drove around Holland. Pretty clear
eyed. The Dan Ryan was hell coming back.
Damn road construction!

I Had A Close Call.......

......driving home this afternoon. This guy...
...or another white-tailed deer, a bit bigger than this guy,
ran across the road about 30 feet behind me.
I think that I missed hitting him by about one second.
I saw movement in my rear view mirror and saw how
close a call I had. I had quit the smile on my face,
missed another one!

Saturday Pictures

Here is the view from my chairy. Sony, 40", LCD,
wall mounted, waiting to be fed digital cable. We
just have analog cable right now, but this is so much
better than our old work horse. That's Helio
Castroneves at Indy.

And this is MJ at GR, watering her garden.

Garden goddess basking in sun, with dim memories
of winters cold.

A Dear Friend Passes Away

Our 18 year old TV set passed away, sometime
between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
We purchased her when we were living in Mentor,
Ohio. Well, now we can buy new technology,
possibly a plasma or LCD screen, I think yes.
Good bye old friend, hello sexy new friend!

Mother's Day Tradition

For many years now, the Friday before Mother's Day has been spent in the excellent company of my mom and my mother-in-law, Lois. This year, Jillayne was able to be with us for our annual trip to Saugatuck. We broke slightly from tradition this year and went all the way into Douglas for lunch at the Blue Moon. Our accomodating waitress took some photos of us showing off our wonderful meals and then out on the patio. On the way home after dropping Lois off, we found some lilac bushes that needed pruning! What a wonderful aroma all the way home and now, throughout the house.

Thanks so much Mom and Lois for giving me so many wonderful Mother's Day Friday memories! I love you both! And Jilly, thanks for my new copy of "Persuasion"; I don't think I can wait for the plane ride to begin reading it. I'll enjoy filling the gardening log with notes from this year and on..... Love you, too!

Pictures From Holland This Weekend And Our Garden

No, this is not Holland! Its the center garden....the godess is at 12oclock, but hiding behind a pink blossom.

Hosta leaves unfurling in the side garden. Leaves on most of the trees also exploded with this weekend's warm weather and the spring rains yesterday and today.

Jill and Betty in the Holland - R's dining room.

The next to the last stage of the long Minnesota good-bye. This was after only 20 minutes of standing around in the driveway.
